Stanislaw Fijalkowski

was born in 1922 in Zdolbunow, Poland ( now in Ukraine) and studied at the Stade Higher Schoo of Fin Arts in Lodz, Poland where he has taught. Stanislaw Fijalkowski has exhibited his prints, drawings, paintings and computer generated images extensively and has won many prizes for his work. His work can be found in major collections, including the Museum of Art in New York and the Tate Galery in London. He is generally considered one of the masters of contemporary Polish art.

The work of Stanislaw Fijalkowski is deeply influenced by Wladyslaw Strzeminski, who believed that an artworks inner meaning is best expressed through a minimally embellished and unified surface with every area having equal importance. He also felt that this unity placed a work of art at the highest level of human endeavor. The refined and delicate graphic quality found in Stanislaw Fijalkowski's work is often symbolic of a strong connection to the Talmud (the body of Jewish civil and Ceremonial law legend) and other literary sources.
